Jawed vertebrated immune system, which is jointly used by hominini, is a physiological subsystem. Turkic nomadian tribes and states being as the only civilization applying inoculation to their community since 1000 BC after learning it from early Indians, facilitated acquisition of this technique by Europeans as from 1700s. Ottoman Empire’s tradition in vaccine production including first typhus vaccine invention and supporting Dr. Pasteur’s studies had been continued after 1980s for only animal vaccine production for a while. The last products of immunology studies of our country, which harbours most of the primary immunodeficiency cases in the world, are around twenty SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. Studies on human and animal immune system have picked speed after 1980s in the world, made it only physiological system known in molecular level, the results have introduced inestimable contribution to the applying sciences in 10 years, the number of immunology units in Western countries have rised rapidly up to thousands, in fine immunology field has gained an independent identity today. Turkish Society of Immunology have founded in 1974 by a group of pediatricians and hematologists. Today 16 out of 112 medical schools in Türkiye have established independent immunology department. In our university, MSc in Immunology Program was established in 1997; Immunology PhD Program in 2007, which is conducted in accord with the 1992 doctoral standartds in immunology and 2012 ORPHEUS doctoral standarts.
