Trakya University Faculty of Medicine was established in Edirne on July 20, 1982.  The Department of Morphology was opened in 1983 and the Department of Histology and Embryology was included in the Department of Morphology until 1993. As the only member of the Histology and Embryology Department, Assoc. Dr. Muberra UYGUN; In 1993, with the division of Morphology Department into Anatomy, Histology and Embryology Departments, she became the Head of Department of Histology and Embryology.
Within the department; There are multi-purpose laboratories where histology routine laboratory, electron microscopy (Jeol 1010), immunohistochemistry, western blot, Kruger morphological analysis and many morphometric analyzes are performed. Bearing the name of our professor, the founder of our department, Prof. Dr. Müberra UYGUN Library is a multi-purpose training room with student preparation archive and computers.
In addition, a student education laboratory with multimedia support, with light microscopes and data projection devices, was established in the multidisciplinary laboratory for the use of the Histology-Embryology Department on the ground floor of the amphitheater.
