The department was established in 1998 and carries out the Biostatistics Master's program.
The mission of the department is to educate researchers, who are equipped with knowledge of biostatistics, who know and use modern research methods and who can conduct a scientific research from the beginning to the end, through the given graduate courses. Another mission is to coordinate the scientific studies and to support the researchers in their studies and to present the information that is produced from the scientific studies to the service of the humanity.
The vision of the department is to reach an internationally respected position in the field of biostatistics graduate education and research.
