Department of Anatomy was established in 1983. Our Founding Head of Department Prof. Dr. Recep Mesut was the head of the department until his retirement in 2008. Since 2008, the head of the department is run by Prof. Dr. Oğuz Taşkınalp.
In the Anatomy Department building, in addition to the Prof. Dr. Recep Mesut Seminar Hall, a library, two small classrooms, and two dissection laboratories, there are areas with cadaver, preparation pools, bone and model cabinets. Motion Analysis Laboratory and Three-Dimensional Modeling and Anthropometry Laboratory of the Department of Anatomy are also located in our department.
There is an anatomy laboratory used by our department for education and research purposes in the Dr. Ratıp Kazancıgil Amphitheater Building. In this laboratory, there is a specially made elevator pool system where cadavers used for educational and research purposes are preserved. In addition to cadavers and bones, training is provided with models and organ preparations of many anatomical systems. Our department continues its education and research with all the latest technological equipment. Apart from student and assistant training, our Department and various physician organizations also organize cadaver trainings and contribute to postgraduate development.
Since the day it was founded, our department has trained a large number of professors and specialists who are still working in the universities of our country. Many physicians, physiotherapists, and nurses who applied to the Institute of Health Sciences and met the conditions completed their doctorate and master's education.
